About Me

My name is Mr. Jacobsen but please call me Mr. J. This '24-'25' school year will be my ninth year teaching and my fifth year with EAHS. Alongside teaching, I coach distance running for the Track and Field program, run the high school's Math Competition Club, and assist with coordinating the district's miniTHON fundraiser for pediatric cancer.

In the photo to the left, you will see my Husky Max. He joins me in my other favorite past times of hiking, biking and running..

Teaching Philosophy

Math can be a difficult class; let's be honest.

However, Algebra and Pre-Calculus can both be exciting in that it allows you (for the first time ever) to make predictions about the future by using an equation that models what you are working with. It also lets you represent information in new ways that we couldn't beforehand.

I find that as a teacher it is my unique role to not only teach students how to use math, but to enjoy it as well
